Though I teach Language and Literature my background is in performing. I studied in LA to get my Bachelors degree in Theatre Arts. After graduation I packed up and moved to New York to pursue acting. That is where I met my amazing husband Nick. July nineteenth will be our sixth year wedding anniversary. We spend our free time having game nights with friends, traveling, and going to live shows. Fours years ago we decided to move to California to be closer to my family. This was a huge transitional time for me professionally. What really pushed my towards education was volunteering with my church's youth group. Connecting with the students there showed me that this is what I am supposed to be doing. I have a passion for helping students tell their stories, especially in the middle and high school levels. This age students have strong ideas and opinions that have been developed from their personal experiences. Though they are often disregarded for being too immature or emotional to speak on serious topics. It is a disservice of society to not listen. Specifically, I focus on oral presentation. This can be a speech, drama, spoken word, music, or whatever they come up with. In a time that is run digitally there is something so powerful about standing in front of people. It takes immense vulnerability and courage. Watching students find their voice and form of personal expression is the most rewarding thing.
